Life is a Gravel

Gravel cycling is more and more inspiring cyclists across Europe. On the cycling scene, there are more and more lovers of secluded, dynamic roads and various gravel paths that take cyclists through the most beautiful parts of the country and offer them an intense exploration, a true experience. Being a gravel cyclist, cycling fast, even bold, totally sporty, but still exploring the remote places is something truly wonderful.

I wonder often what would be a great location for cyclists, who love gravel roads, now and then choose a pleasant single trail, rush along fast gravel roads, sliding through bends, indulging in mud and puddles, enjoy socializing, local culinary, good coffee along the way…

I pretty much follow the happenings in the gravel cycling scene, where all the most beautiful stories of this kind develop, where the gravel communities are built, where the gravel cyclists go in search of the most amazing experiences. Personally, I’m a big fan of gravel cycling, bikepacking and my home destinations are primarily Slovenia, Croatia and an amazing Balkan region. I have found that any location can be good for gravel grinders, but every gravel cyclist has high expectations and Human Fish Gravel with great destinations around is a really great choice.

Imagine gravel grinding on a great gravel road through vineyards or through green forest full of mighty trees. Pure ecstasy!

Imagine gravel grinding on a great gravel road through vineyards or through green forest full of mighty trees. Pure ecstasy! The interior of human fish region is interspersed with forest roads and gravel roads that connect small villages, remote places and enable locals and foresters to navigate the terrain. All these paths and roads call for pleasure cycling and exploration.

Every gravel cyclist has high expectations and our idea of gravel festival with its huge region of first class gravel roads, which is traversed in all directions, and with its pristine natural environment, is a great choice. It is almost impossible for a gravel enthusiast to stay cool, on the contrary, with a wide choice of great gravel trails, experiences and places along the way, it will warm the heart of every cyclist, or even “burn” them with a real adventure.

For me personally, gravel cycling represents an environmentally sustainable form of biking.

For me personally, gravel cycling represents an environmentally sustainable form of biking. We, gravel cyclists, don’t need and don’t even seek new biking trails, instead we tend to use existing infrastructure. Gravel roads, forest roads, back roads, secluded and almost forgotten dirt roads, … Those are our playground. We connect them with local people, we respect their hometowns and we use various local services. A large majority of gravel cyclists has a lot of respect for nature and the environment. I can make an approximate assessment that us gravel and bikepacking cyclists are the ones, who are very much connected to nature but we don’t abuse it, we don’t take advantage of it with destructive interventions for our own pleasures.

In all honesty, Human Fish Gravel is above all a wish for all lovers of gravel cycling to meet, hang out and exchange experiences. We, gravel cyclists, are a different bunch. We like company and exploring back roads, we love nature and good food means a lot to us. One does not see a lot of cars on our cycling tours and can sometimes cycle all alone in a secluded and remarkable natural surrounding. There, where only a few people go. The latter is what matters the most, apart from hanging out with like minded people and one’s cycling friends. Gravel is in its essence a way of life and once you are hooked, you are done for. There is only one way from there and that is up, up towards new experiences and towards new discoveries with wind in one’s hair.

In all honesty, Human Fish Gravel is above all a wish for all lovers of gravel cycling to meet, hang out and exchange experiences.

You are welcome to join us at a meeting of gravel cyclists in a remarkable Slovenian ambiance, where a dynamic Dinaric mountain range and a Mediterranean breeze intermingle. Each and every participant can find a personal challenge and each and every one will add a piece to the gravel mosaic. See you there!
